Last month, Chinese manufacturing company ZTE released the world’s fastest home entertainment console, the FunBox in China with no indications when the console would become available in international markets. However, we now know that one retailer, AliExpress is shipping the product worldwide and if you’re in the US and are super eager to buy the home console, you can, at a price of $159.
FunBox runs on Android 4.3 and is powered by an NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor. It comes with 2GB RAM and its top quality graphics are delivered by a 72-core GeForce graphics processor. Additional hardware specs include a Bluetooth controller, 2 USB ports, HDMI and Ethernet jacks, and a microSD card slot. The device also features Dolby DigitalPlus audio, support for 4K video, and dual-band WiFi for anyone who is interested. The FunBox will be available in 12 different colors and will also come with a media-centric remote control and a wireless game controller.
The FunBox is obviously built for gaming, but it is also a wholesome device for entertainment. For instance, you can hook it up to a Smart TV and make video calls, or engage in online video streaming activities.
The FunBox is more power packed than its cheaper rival the Ouya, but it faces a more serious contender in Amazon Fire TV, which is not only cheaper but is also easily available to order. Currently the FunBox comes with restrictions on purchase and the fact that the first batch of products in AliExpress only supports the Chinese language does not augur well in its favor.
