After worming its way through Kickstarter in late 2012 and then the iOS platform the next year, Golden Ruby Games’ endless runner Worm Run has finally arrived on Android.
Not another endless runner, I hear you say, but I think you will enjoy this one as it mixes up a little bit of Temple Run and Sonic the Hedgehog in its gameplay.
Thankfully, you won’t be playing a worm in this game, but a rather helpless space janitor Zeke Tallahassee, who happens to be chased down a labyrinth by a gigantic, bloodthirsty worm.
You have the usual obstacles and hazards that make your escape a touch challenging. There are also helpful power ups like the Skunk Juice and Slow Spice to aid you in your runs and plenty of coins to pick up along the way, but Worm Run manages to keep things nice and interesting with five challenging worlds, procedurally generated maps, retro sounds, and a unique swipe control system.
Basically, you swipe left, right, and up to run, dash and jump across the obstacle-riddled platform, but the manner in which the big fuzzy worm inches its way toward you certainly keeps you on your toes and on the edge; which is certainly a nice way to play.
An endless runner it may be, but it sure looks appealing enough to add to your game collection. Pick up this monster from the Play Store for just under a dollar.
