Minecraft is easily one of the most popular video games in recent times and you can play it on PC and mobile if you’re so inclined. However, so far Minecraft Pocket Edition has been lacking in features when compared to the full PC version and other Minecraft-esque games like SurvivalCraft. Now, Mojang has released their biggest update so far to Minecraft Pocket Edition in an effort to bridge that gap.
The update is 0.8.0 and includes a lot of what we’d call basic features now but they are brand new for the Pocket Edition. Minecarts, rails and powered rails have been added on that front although no real mines/caves have been added yet. As far as new blocks, they’ve added carpets, more wood types, hay bales, iron bars, and more. Food wise, beetroot, carrots, potatoes and pumpkins have been added and you can craft new soups and pies. Clocks and compasses are added for creative and survival. Better enemy AI, new textures from the PC version, view distance increased, more blocks in creative mode, and more have also been added. This is indeed the biggest update yet for Minecraft Pocket Edition and while it still isn’t up to snuff with the PC version it has made a huge stride today.
