Monsters Ate My Birthday Cake Runs Into a Plagiarism Row

Sleep Ninja’s fun puzzle adventure game Monsters Ate My Birthday Cake has run into unexpected trouble. Illustrator Ilias Sounas of “MonsterUp Adventures” fame believes that the graphics used on the game map of “Monsters Ate My Birthday Cake” are pure exact copies of his work, namely the island of Teratakia which appears in the MonsterUp Adventures game.

The dispute for the illustrator is not over the game mechanics or the overall style of the game, but specifically in relation to the game map. Ilias believes that the mountains, hills, wave patterns and even the Skull on the map is an exact rip off of his work. He has provided all the details of the issue in his blog post where he compares the graphics of the two games side by side. He has indicated various aspects of the game that are similar, from the game’s starting point to the monsters, flow of the rivers, and shadows of the trees, which looks strikingly similar.

Ilias has started that he has contacted both the game developer SleepNinja and publisher Cartoon Network regarding these serious allegations and is awaiting their response.

Ilias has demanded that the Game Map be removed and a new one with different assets be designed. What do you think of the allegations folks? Let us know in the comments section.
