SEGA is kicking off the New Year with a sequel to the widely popular Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing game. Its called Sonic Racing Transformed, a name inspired by the unique nature of the vehicles to transform into something else according to the landscape and nature of the race tracks.
Players will get to enjoy racing of a completely different kind, as powerful racing cars get transformed into agile planes or high-speed aquatic vehicles when they have to fly across the air or cross raging rapids. Players will have to master the unique characteristics of the different types of vehicles as well as understand the nature of the dynamically changing courses if they want to hit the finish line before the rest of the competition. Help comes in the form of alternate routes and new power ups, which if discovered will help players beat the competition.
Sonic’s All Star Legends will be in full force along with new entrant martial arts master and Shenmue star, Ryo Hazukib who will be showing off his transformation skills on the After Burner arcade deck, Super Hang-On bike and Outrun cabinet.
Another cool aspect of the game is that players can challenge their friends in four player local matches or in synchronous and asynchronous online multiplayer races. Facebook integration will also let players watch their friends’ profile pictures while racing them on the track.
And if you’re looking for another kind of transformation, hook up your game to an Android controller to enjoy a different kind of mobile racing experience.
